Its also a good place to stand a pole up while you are putting on another rig or trying to get a hook out of a fish.

I have a tendency to pick a favorite spot and cast my way in searching out in front of me as I approach the area and then jig my way out. so I keep two poles at the ready. This would be perfect to keep the other rod up and out the way

Have you tried these with spinning reels looks like a great idea but I use spinning reels would like to know if these will work.
