CDC is my favorite forum to post reports, Richard. Yes, I love the Terrova I-Pilot. Since 98% of my fishing in the summer/fall is done in the Tennessee river channel, the spot lock feature is wonderful. If fishing with no wind or current, instead of spot locking the TM, I just sit there and just occasionally touch the remote (turn on and off quickly) to maintain position instead of aimlessly drifting around the GPS position that is locked upon. This is pretty easy to do after just a little practice. Yes, Dr Phil occasionally has a good idea. I have encouraged him to try different stuff from time to time. I will ask him what he thinks about a fishing situation even though I have a pretty good idea what to do, but my method of teaching is to teach others to teach. At first, when I would take him 1/4 mile off shore to a structure, if I didn't throw a marker, he would complain a little bit about not knowing where to cast. Grin. I would always have him look at the graph as we were going over the structure looking for drops, cover, fish, etc. and many times, I would just position the boat, hit spot lock and start fishing. He was uncomfortable with this method if I didn't throw a marker. But, he is getting much better now.
What I would really like to see people do when they post reports is to describe the technique that they use to catch fish. We don't have to give away "secret" spots. Only about 2000 people know about our secret spots anyway. But teaching crappie fishermen how to detect the crappie bite, what seasonal patterns are, etc., in order to help them learn to catch a few fish is what I am about.
