Any pictures of boat, might help with replies

Ram Rod 2000 is an adjustable holder for $20 if you are on a budget. Drill 4 holes and you can adjust it in all angles.

IMO, you’ll very much regret not getting a set that’s adjustable from the start. Spend the money once, instead of twice. I know how expensive it can be rigging a boat from the start, but this is something I would definitely not to skimp on. I fish Spyderlock’s and love them. Infinitely adjustable.

I'm with the majority here get a set of quality adjustable rod holders and be done with it. I tried the same method of building my own and that worked for a while til I almost lost an expensive catfishing setup using a chain store brand. The expense of replacing the rod and reel was equivalent to a set of Spyderloks. Since, then I have been saving and buying the better gear. There are several sponsors building quality rod racks, I'm just partial to these since I catch multiple species of fish.
