    Default South Texas Crappie Lakes

Looking for a place to be a winter Texan in a couple years. Would like to park my RV on a good crappie lake for the winter. I've been to Lake Corpus Christi, saw lots of catfish pictures. Been to Choke Canyon res, man it's really LOW, does it fill up every year or is this a long term thing? What about Coleta Cooling Pond? What about lake Texana?

Not interested in the "border" lakes, too many crime stories for me.

    Any intel would be appreciated.

I'll be glad to give you the lowdown on Ky lake, It's out my backdoor.

My suggestion would be Coleta Creek Park. You have bass, cats and crappie in abundance and the lake has been known for red drum back in the day.
I fish Somerville, Conroe, Houston, and Gibbons in that order for crappie afterwards. These are my main lakes so I know and like them but Coleta Creek has been fantastic every time I went.

you may want to look at TPW site to help you make a decision it has allot of info on the lakes in that area. I have fished Conroe and it was a blast.

    good luck
