Ed Dukes is a great guy to do business with. Long handles are for getting reel in front of rod holder.

I talked to Ed today, he suggested the 14 also, I went out and measured boat. Looks like handles might need to hang over transom for transport. I must be crazy getting into this but better than sitting on the couch wondering.

I know. Me too! I figured I’d haul them in three pieces to the lake and assemble there.

Might want to get some rod covers to put them in, then ... especially if you intend to leave the rigging on the lines. I use the old style BPS & Cabela's rod covers, rather than the plastic weave style (which are made to fit a single blank rod and not a grouping of rod sections). Something like a Falcon Rod Sock would work fine, and they're not that expensive : Falcon Rod Sock

I carry mine to the lake and back, in the rod locker & in their jacket covers ... so there's no tangles with each other or any of the other 6-8 rods that may also be in there (most of which are also in various types of socks/covers).

Good idea that I had not thought of. I assume these are made where the hook can’t embed it the material?

Uhh, sorry .... no, they're not. You have to be careful with them. That's why I put the jig hook on the crossbar of the reel, which is outside of the cover. (I don't rig double jigs/hooks)
