Mr. Monk Currence and Mr. James Covington both survived a boating accident Wednesday here on Lake Wylie. James, had to jump in the water to avoid being hit on the bow and Monk stayed with the boat. They were anchored down over a brush in the mouth of Torrance Branch when the boat that pushes the rock barge around hit them across the bow of Monks boat. They a bruised and scratched up but alive. Thank goodness they saw it coming and bailed out when needed. Monks boat is a total loss from the source I have. Just be careful out there! Ware your PFD or at least have it available to grab. I think these guys will tell the water is still cold.![]()

Wonder if Monk had a few choice words for the other guy ? Glad they both ok. Be careful out there. never know. Both these guys been on the lake for years and very experienced boaters.. Just never know what is around the next turn.
Glad they are both okay
Thanks guys! I talked to Everett my brother in law and said he talked to Monk about what happened. He said James never felt the cold water. I guess you got to assume he was in shock at the time or worried about Monk. Also, Monk is on crutches from being stiff. Now it's dealing with the insurance company. I hope it works out good for them. I got full coverage collision and liability plus theft insurance but I don't know how good they would be if it happen to me. Anyone know about Progressive pay off's?![]()
Mr. James is getting up in years and a great guy. I bought the old style alibi hair jigs from him for years. Glad they survived...and this is a good reminder: you have to keep your head on a swivel nowadays!

I was fishin Sharon Harris one night with a friend of mine and we bout got ran over by a pontoon and i had all my lights on and my head lamp on my head. I was hollowing and waving my light. People just don't pay attention to what's going on when they are on the water. Glad both are k and hope everything goes well with the insurance
