Direction and setting speeds work for me.

You may already know this but when you push the N (navigation) button on the remote the screen will show an N with a circle
around it. This is advanced navigation. It will hold a line in the direction it is pointed. If you have a cross wind and blow off
that line, the boat will turn sideways and go back to that line before continuing down it. If you push and hold the N button
the circle will go away leaving only the N. This will keep you going in the same general direction without the boat going back
to the point it left the line. I often follow contour lines but use my left/right arrows to stay on line. Some of the newer models
will do that for you.

I also use mine for speed control. If I want to go .3 I set the speed control and it will maintain that speed. Mine will increase or decrease by .1 for each push of the button. really nice for Spyder rigging.

You can also pull up the lake map, move the curser to where you want to go, or saved I tracks, set the speed where you want, and forget about it. That's if you have a compatible fish finder. The follow contour feature is nice too, but not many Louisiana lakes are on the lakemaster chip.

My best advice until you get used to it, take the laminated cheat sheet that came with it. Read it over and the book. Then go to a body of water without a lot of traffic. Get out there and practice all the different things it will do. Vary your speed, try the 2 different navigation features, especially learn how to record a track and then how to follow that recorded track. Practice until it becomes second nature.

I've thoroughly enjoyed mine. I use it for pulling cranks and some seasonal spider rigging. I use it for trolling, spot lock, drift control,etc. I even used it to load it on the trailer when the cranking battery died. Of all the things it will do, the stow/deploy by remote is by far my favorite feature of the Ulterra.

So you record a track, how good of a job does it do of following a recorded track? Is it right on like the spot lock or does it meander back and forth? I dont have a lot of practice with it yet so im still learning it.
