I think most dock shooters (crappie fisherman in general) at LOZ are pretty good people and will do their best to leave things as they found them. I have shot between pontoon floats and hung on the lift pump hose numerous times. I will not pull into and break that jig off, potentially puncturing the hose. I get out and retrieve the jig, and typically move on. If someone has a problem with that, they’ll just have to throw a fit, call the cops, throw rocks, whatever. Same with boat tarps, etc.
I don’t see Ameren doing much about people fishing privately owned docks, because frankly, what is left to fish on a big majority of the lake. However, there always seems to be a few that bitch and ruin things for the rest.
Roap, boards, chains, construction fence, I’ve seen it all... and I’ll tell you one thing from a guy that fishes LOZ religiously, all you’re doing is putting up a big neon sign that says, “CRAPPIE UNDER THIS DOCK - COME FISH HERE”. The best dock shooters on LOZ are going to find a way to get a jig in there. If there are good crappie under there, I will get my jig in the smallest crack in the encapsulated, fencing, whatever. It’s almost like a challenge to catch a fish on that dock at that point. For those that aren’t real good at shooting docks, you think you’ve got jigs hung on your dock now!
Honestly, it sounds like you’re just trying to get ideas to keep people from fishing your dock without sounding like a... But, I’m with Beagle, be respectful to the fishermen, and most fishermen will be respectful to the dock owners.

I'd try putting up a sign that says "Please do not leave your jigs on or around this dock" or something like that, then put up about 4 of those fake surveillance cameras that look like they have night vision, harbor freight has them for around $6. Then put up a trail cam or two for good measure and actual surveillance if you need it. Pretty cheap fix.

Hope we all remember that many Lake Ozark docks are owned by older people. Their dock is their total fishing world, period! They may not be able to even get out in a boat. Of course they are protective and sensitive when they see someone hammering their dock. It’s not worth it, move on.

It's a problem I believe is just gonna have to be tolerated ... while I understand not wanting a bunch of jigs stuck in my dock , keeping folks from fishing your dock just isn't going to happen specially on LOZ .

This touches on sensitive issues I commend the participants for more restraint than is normal for the internet. I don't want to violate the rules an introduce politics but I think it would be best to not give the federal government an excuse to exert more authority over LOZ than it already does. If you like to shoot docks keep your boat as far away as possible and don't get your jigs tangled up. I don't think I have ever lost a jig above the waterline on a dock and I cast like 5 year old. As pointed out above regulations that can't be enforced makes bad guys out of good guys and helps destroy the social fabric giving the government power for powers sake.
That said if we have a lawyer here I would like to hear what they have to say.
