Do they die off in the summer?

My wife and I went on a guided trout trip to the White River in Mt View AR when we found out she was pregnant with our daughter. We drift fished and caught our limits of good sized trout in fairly short order. It was a GREAT trip. We tried grilling them, baking them, and fried some pan size fish like those Stockers you caught. The fried fish were much better to me. Just a bit more gamey tasting IMO when grilled or baked than most fish we eat. The grease and cornmeal solves some of that tho.

They do die off n the lakes around here. My son was bass fishing in a park lake in May and could see trout swirling around on the surface.

They will hit a minnow/slip bobber rig also. 5 per person in Kentucky but you have to buy a trout stamp.

They will hit cut bait. I've never fished them with a float. We get the annual AR fishing license and the federal trout stamp. Planning a few camping trips now.

State license plus federal trout stamp, kids fish under adult's stamp, plus lake permit if they charge. Check to be sure, age 18 for stamp the last I heard.

Biggest crappie to date is 3 lb 9 oz at grenada in 1988. Still hangs on my wall.

I'm ok eating trout until I find one of those tiny bones in my mouth then it's all over. I just ordered a Wunder Boner, see if that helps. My son says their whole fish at the restaurant comes boneless.
