Good decision to take it to a shop.
Got the call from the shop this morning. Said that he put 15 psi on it for an hour and it didnt leak. Said that it could have been condensation built up in it. They put new oil in it and it's ready to go. $75 and I'm happy anytime its under $100. Getting it Thursday morning and heading to somewhere on the Tennessee River to try my new poles out. I just hope my batteries have held there charge during last week's 2 degrees. Then hopefully Friday me and Trypman can get on some.

Keep a periodic check on it through the year. It's likely the fishing line you removed from the propshaft allowed water past the seal. It's also remotely possible that one of the seals is weak in the other direction which would allow water passage as water pressure exceeds the lower units internal pressure. A vacuum test of the lower unit is used to test that. Also, if the pressure test was static with no movement of the driveshaft, propshaft or shift shaft, it's possible a defect was not found. In any event, should you find water during a check, consider this info. Good luck
I'd rather be fishing.![]()
