Does anyone know if there's any ice fishing going on any of the bigger central or southern Illinois lakes? Talking bout Clinton, Shelbyville or any others...Thx!

Shelbyville was around 8 inches, but they dropped the lake so the edges are caved in a bit. Not sure how much I trust it after the lake is dropped and it thawed a bit.

I have never fished Shelbyville through the ice. So honestly can't speak with authority. I'm sure some shallow areas are good from year to year when it's cold enough, but the corps start pulling water from the south end every year in late December. They drop it like five feet over the course of the winter. I personally wouldn't trust it.

With 8 in of ice it doesn't matter if there is water under it or not. And I assure you the ice is in contact with the water. Go fish
