Default Last Saturday On The River

I decided to try the river hoping this cold spell would push them into the deeper channels.
Headed to a spot I had in mind and started setting up for some spider rigging, before I could get my second rod out the first one bows "fish on" not a keeper but it's a fish. Ended up catching three dinks by the time I got all the rods out and they just kept coming. I couldn't tell you how many fish we caught but we could have loaded the boat with 9" and smaller fish. It was like fishing in a nursery!
The strange thing is I caught two of the largest specks I have caught this year.
We ended up keeping 9 fish but caught a ton! It was a beautiful way to spend the day.

Nice fish and sounds like a great day. Any advice on water temp, colors, or depth?

Water temp was 46 I was fishing 14-17 FOW, my son was dragging minnows while I pushed jigs. Pink seemed to be the crowd favorite.
They seemed to want it very slow!

Anytime you catch the year's personal best, it's a good day, like your thinking on the deep water.....

You answered the question I have had bouncing around in my head for a while now. I'm impatient and can only rig so long when they aren't cooperating before I got to go do something else. Sounds like a fun time.

I had comparable results on Sunday. Lots of fish, lots of little ones, but a few nice ones mixed in. Fish were stacked in deep holes and lethargic.

I did fuel line surgery at the ramp on Saturday after I managed to crack the line way to early. Run to ACE, realize no tools so make use of what IS there available in my truck, then had to pull start the boat because the starter decided to not work, but I was determined. At the ramp 645am, Leave dock somewhere between 9-930am, back at 11am.

Ended up giving up after an hour of actual fish time in open water.
