    Default Boat Insurance

I'm now on the 4th boat I've owned in my life and I've never had one until now that I had anything other than liability type insurance on.

What kind of insurance (coverage wise) do you guys have, and who do you use? Also, have you ever filed a claim with them and if so how easy were they to work with?

I went through my agent...he found a geico policy add on...think it was called sportsmans package...includes coverage w towing both behind truck and on water...as well as lower unit protection and theft of equipment . Think its 170 a year for 6600 replcement on boat, liability, etc

I have it with all state same as my cars and house. My lowe stinger had a lower unit freeze and bust. Has no problems getting it fixed. One call and it was done. I would keep full coverage. One time in the shop can cost more than years of insurance

Progressive on the war eagle. It is $100/yr. By the time i bought the WE, USAA stopped issuing their own insurance and partnered with progressive
USAA on the Triton. I think it is about $150/yr.

Both seem to be great policies.

Mine is with State Farm and runs $125 a year. I don't remember my coverages and limits but it's pretty standard.

I filed a claim on Travelers one time on a boat I owned that was stolen. I do not remember how much the policy was but it was very reasonable. I financed the boat when I bought it. When I reported it stolen Travelers paid the boat off and paid me the difference in the purchase price I paid minus what I owed. So practically I got to use a boat for 2 years for free.
