I don't live in that area but I thought I read that there was a marina with a fishing dock there and there may be crappie holding underneath if they dropped brush piles like most marinas do. If you can't or don't find a marina find a bank area that has some submerged trees or bridge pylons under the water. Crappie hold to "structure" and structure can be a slight drop off to a large drop off or submerged rock pile or trees (piles) dropped by other fishermen. The water is cold so the crappie will be deep most of the time. Use a slip bobber to set your depth and use minnows and jigs under slip bobbers. You can find the depth using a slip bobber if you don't know the bottom you're fishing.
