Doubt it. Water levels fluctuate so may have air under ice even if thick enough..

A few, here and there, rare and not for long. I avoid the big lakes (Smithville and up) unless it is really cold for a really long time. Smaller lakes can be good, if you watch for it.Originally Posted by Atimm693

I wasn't thinking of ice fishing, but open water to fish some of the creek mouths. Thanks for the reply however. I am 77 and have gone my whole life without even giving a thought to fishing through the ice, knowing it is fun for some, just not me. Would however like to know if the lake is open enough to fish.
