My terrova has gone nuts before and I dont have gps on it. One day I put the tm in the water and turned around to grab my rods and start putting them out heard it making a noise and turned back around to the tm and it had turned all the way around several time wrapping the cord up around the shaft and even ripped my transducer wire. Thankfully it has only happened once. Transducers are expensive haha and mine is foot pedal only no remote.

No direct experience, but since you were running on 10, I'd lean towards one of the earlier comments. Probably a low voltage condition at the control head since you also said the remote would not respond. Motor probably went to it's "home" position, and kept running at whatever speed it was at when it lost it's mind. I play with electronics, and I've seen some crazy things happen during low voltage conditions. Let's hope it was just a fluke, and glad not too much damage.

Not exactly the same scenario but since I have owned mine (about 3 years now) every time I have the "cruise control" and push the directional lock button it always kicks the speed way up. For instance if the TM speed is locked in on say 1 1/2, as soon as I hit the directional button it jumps to like 4....which of course throws the cruise speed way off. It will eventually go back down but it takes a good 30 seconds to a minute to do so...which is a pain. So now I have found that if I do it in reverse order and set the direction first, then the cruise it tends to work better.....but not always.

No cruise on, no auto pilot on. Just jack rabbit button pressed. Nothing else. And it does a 90 on its own into sea wall! Surprise surprise. Coulda been worse.
