Default Sally Hansen, Elvis and Me

Well, I like red hooks, so, I painted a few hooks Sally Red.

It's raining, so I am experimenting.

Pink and Black were Elvis colors in the 50's and 60's. Besides being an Elvis fan, I like pink, chartreuse, white and black stuff anyway.

Personally, I don't believe a fish gives one iota if the hook is red, but colors always invokes interesting conversations.

By the way, these big hooks usually had minners or curly tails attached before I started tying.

My tying inspiration came from you folks. Just wanted to let you know that.

Sally has some good products. I use the clear for head cement. I believe it is as good as any and has a great brush-cap. I have one bottle with the brush in it for jigs and streamers and one with its brush cut off that I use my dubbing needle on small flys. I wish they made clear hooks for flys! Sometimes a trout comes up to a dry fly and refuses it at the last minute. I blame it on him seeing the hook. Perhaps it is good they do not make clear hooks as I would not have anything to blame the last second refusal on!

I use Sally for the head too. The above jigs were painted several times with Sally clear. Makes the string hard as nails. Ha. If hooks were clear, I would be making regular runs to the EM. I have had hooks stuck in strange places. Catfish barbs are also a menace.

Well I have always said that red fingernail polish has to last as long if not longer than the read hooks. They are just Gold hooks with Red over that comes off, lol!

I have run into my fair share of guy that like Pink and Black as their favorite color combo. I do like the Pink and Chart colors together though. For me the best day I ever had using Pink we several years back and I was fishing bride pilings pitching and swing back style and the jig was Pink head, FL Red Body which some call Hot Pink, then the tail was Hot Pink. So it was all a bright Hot Pink jig and they liked it!

Before I started rolling my own jigs, Skeetbum sent me about 100 of pink heads with chartreuse tail and red neck string. Should I say string red neck? Maybe string red neck?

Pink and chartreuse catch year round here.

I never understood how red fishing line "disappears" in the water yet red hooks look like "bleeding" bait
