Casting jigs and tight lining .... only managed 11 keepers and all of them were 20 feet deep and deeper . I could not buy a shallow bite
The water color improves as you go up stream
Tea color is a brown algae bloom a result of the rain from the hurricane.
    Shad love it

How does Watts Bar fish crappie pappy? Is it flats or deep water with points? I bass fished it years ago but I don't remember much about it.

Ditto on the no shallow bite. Just got home from holmes bend. Ended up with 25. All were caught 18-19 feet deep in 19-21 FOW. Maybe a couple at 15. All caught tight on brush with minnows. Took a buddy with me who has never been productive. We both learned things and had a good time. Beat the heck out of being at work!

For me it has been a dock shooting lake, for the most part. Locals know where all the deep water brush is, and I don't ... I've just run upon a few spots with downed trees that extend out into 20-30fow, and those have produced at times. It's got about any type of bottom contour structure you could imagine, depending on which part of the lake you're on.
I started fishing there for Smallmouth, but once I found out the size & thickness of the Crappie ... I left the Smallies alone and went straight Crappie fishing ever since.

Murdered the crappie this past weekend with T.Slabseeker at Green River. Minnows were the overall favorite.

Thanks for the info. I'd like to fish it sometime. Didn't mean to hijack the thread.
