I thought that I would get to the lake early this morning. I made it to the ramp by first light and found that I was 5th in line to launch. But it went quickly and I was on the water in no time.
The water was high but the ramp was open.It must be at least a good 5 to 6 feet above normal. I slowly motored out a way from the dock and shut down the motor and set up the rods. From here on it was trolling motor only.
I was only a few yards from the ramp and already I was in 12 feet of water. I headed out to the sign line to make a pass, but before I got there a rod went off. Nice way to start the day. Skunk off - first fish in the live well.
I made the turn to head back when it started to rain. Not hard and I could see clear sky a way off. I put on the rain jacket and made the next pass.
The rod goes off again. The rain didn't last long and I was back in the grove. Added a few more to the well.
The the wind picked up and changed direction. I lookup and saw nothing but dark clouds. Time to pull and run. It started raining as I left the lot.
I ended the morning with 6 fish, 4 over 12 inches. Not bad for the first trip of the season.
another good day at the office !

WTG Jim! I still have those jig heads I poured for you. Let me know if you want them snail mailed to you.
Thanks. Looks like there is light at the end of the tunnel, as far as the ramps go.

Good job Jim. I'll be out there one day soon.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
They still have the road closed to my ramp in Orange City......... Just wondering if they will use this as an excuse to close the access for good.......
