Need help keeping eyes on jighead
I bought some of the cheap flat eyes to put on my jigheads an realized quickly that they will not stay on with just the little glue they come with so i went ahead and got the cs clear vinyl thinking it would coat everything and harden but the smallest of fish were able to rip them off. I only did one coat because i was doing alot but im not sure that another coating will help.
any ideas, tried an true ways?

You need to put some superglue on before you stick them on. I use brush on Loctite, but some use DUCO Cement I believe. Then many will coat over with some type of clear coat. If I do that it's clear vinyl that I use. The super glue should keep them on and the clear vinyl should be able to also hold them on. When I use the vinyl I use a brush to put it on and it's thick enough and when it dries is very tough. Not sure what happened to your vinyl coat, but would think it should keep that on.

i love barlowsjust wish it wasnt in town haha. So far my method was powder coat, bake the powder coat. Then I put eyes on an dipped the head of the jig in the clear vinyl once an let excess run off till it quit running. I then put the jigheads in the oven at 250 for roughly 30 minutes to make it hard. After they harden you can see little air pockets behind some bits of the eye where it popped up either due to heat or no glue on that part of eye. Its not a big pocket of air but im sure it dosent help any an i might need to dip them more than once

just press them in place and hold it real tight for a bit, then cover with hard as nails!

Be careful what colors you put Hard as Nails over as Chart and FL Yellow will not look great after if you do. I converted over to Clear Vinyl as it doesn't mess up these two colors! Plus it's probably a lot tougher than the Hard as Nails since that is just Lacquer like most Nail polish!

Well i got me some loctite ultragel control. Superglue really helps i feel confident with just superglue but i went ahead an did two layers of clear vinyl, are their anyways to dry vinyl faster without it bubbling/air pockets. If i leave them in normal room temp it stays gooey never getting rock hard until i put in oven at lowest setting

If you put on thick coats it will take longer to really cure. Still even with just a normal coat it take a day or two to really dry proper! It is the only draw back though! Just start a little faster so you have a couple days of time to let coats dry well. Most colors you can get by with the Sally Henson's Hard As Nails, but you can not use over FL Yellow or FL Chartreuse or it will make them down right ugly! So try using that on all except these colors that change like these two and the Sally's will dry faster, just don't try it over the ones I mentioned or you will not like what happens!Originally Posted by Crappiedayz
