The "skirt" of a tube will "wiggle" when being pulled thru the water ... which gives off vibrations the fish can sense. That "wiggle" movement also resembles the tail fin of a swimming/fleeing fish. I don't know as they are any 'better' than the baby shad/stinger shad style plastic body, but they do work ... and could be a good addition to your plastics arsenal. My suggestion would be to use solid body tubes, rather than hollow body tubes, simply because the solid body tubes stay on the jig better (if it has a retainer barb) and they seem to last longer before being torn up beyond usability.

I like using hollow tubes that I can inject with crappie nibbles. I just don’t have a problem catching a bunch of fish with the nibbles. Chartreuse is my go to color. The tubes injected with nibbles outfishes all the other plastics I use also. One other thing, my tubes are also salted.

Blue/chart. Purple/chart .

Black And Chartruese hard to beat.
