8th Annual Mp Church Tourn Update
Just a few quick comments about this Saturdays tournament. We will be practicing "catch and release" at our tournaments from now on. We are limiting the number of fish in your live well to 10 max. This gives you 7 to weigh in and 3 extra in case you have fish that die. We will release all fish after they are weighed. We will pick up the ones that do not swim off and they can be taken. This is an attempt to release the larger tournament fish back into the lake and not destroy some 140 to 200 larger fish per tournament. I hope this is not a problem and everyone looks at it as conservation and helping the larger crappie population. I know we cannot control the everyday fisherman that keeps hundreds a year but we all can do our part.
You need to plan when and where you will get your bait, gas, eats, etc. There is a store beside the Alcoa Landing but it does not open until 7am. Sign in and Live Well check is from 5am-6am. Highway 49 Sporting Goods opens at 5:30 but it is a little drive from the landing and again sign in is from 5am-6am. There is a Marathon store near the intersection of Highway 49 and Highway 52 in Richfield not sure of their hours and it is 15-20 min from landing. Best bet is to have your gas, bait, eats, etc. the night before to insure you will make the sign in and live well check.
You must sign in and get live well checked at Alcoa Landing from 5am-6am on Saturday Oct. 7th. I will get your entry fee and hand you a set of rules and or answer any questions. Remember to ask first so there is no confusion at the scales. This is a fund raiser for our church. No points or memberships just good clean fishing fun for everyone with low entry fee and great payout. Please be courteous to your fellow fishermen and show good sportsmanship at all times. Any questions please call me this week 704-791-3778. Hope you can make it on Saturday. The forecast is good and the crappie are biting as good as I've seen them in years at Badin. Lots of big fish being caught. The only money the church keeps is the entry fees and any donations given back to the church from those who win money. See you Saturday
