Water temps still pushing 80. Don't think I'd go to far back into the creeks.

I tried a nightstalk last night and almost got skunked. Set up north of the state park in 25' of water and caught two small crappie, a few white perch and a 10lb blue cat. Not many good reports on Wateree recently, so bring your patience with you when you come.

Not a report but we didn't do so good last week, couldn't stay away from the catfish tightlining, tried long lining with not bites in creek mid way out, lots of bait there. I'd say brush, not sure but that's the only thing we didn't try and I know a couple that was fishing brush and caught a couple but that was after the fact. ( we were home when found that out) Good luck sorry I didn't get you earlier.

LittleJohn, there's a cabelas two day cat tourny this weekend. I'm pretty sure the weigh in is at Clearwater cove. I'd avoid that area like the plague.

Follow up on my trip. I cut my trip short suppose to stay until Saturday but came back there yesterday. What is going on with Wateree? Is the lake going through fall turnover. I try every method I know and just could cot get the crappie to bite. I long line, spider rig,set up on brush piles. Fish the main lake, creeks and night fish each night. Caught a few perch, very few crappie and some catfish. Most time a person can catch them at night time if not biting during today. With the full moon out the night bite was sparse.

Wateree doesn't turnover, retention time is only like like 3 weeks.
