I had purchased one in February 2016 for an accessory battery. When I purchased my current rig, the blue top found its way into the rear compartment after being stranded due to all my electronics being ran off of my starting battery. I hooked all the internal electrical components and my HDS 9 & 12 as well.
I had some issues prior to the transom being rebuilt, but the problem only seemed to really fester now. 2.5 hours into today's fishing trip, my HDS 12 started blinking off and back on with the screen brightness reduced. Back and forth, over and over and over again. So, I shut it down for good and just used my HDS 9 at the bow. Well, it started blinking around dinner time, and by 1:30pm it was just about toast.
Headed back into the ramp, loaded her up and headed to HI Tec Outdoors to speak to Matt Qwinn, the owner. Got there and they did some testing and ended up the Optima had a bad internal cell!
So, I called the auto store where I had purchased it and they looked it all up on the 'puter, and said to bring it in. I got a full refund of the Optima and purchased a behemoth of a deep cycle 31, and I am back in business.
You spend good, hard earned cash on stuff and a year later it goes bad, just lucky that it was caught under warranty.

Got a new deep cycle, and 167.00+ back in change that will go towards a rainy day!!
