Here is the recipe for making hummingbird nectar:

    • Mix 4 parts water to 1 part table sugar in a pan. For example, use 1 cup sugar to 4 cups water. ...
    • Bring to a boil then remove from the heat. ...
    • Cover and allow to cool before using or pouring into the storage bottle.

We've had them for a couple (?) months now, same rowdy bunch where they fight over the 3 feeders we have. One will camp out on the metal hanger (claiming it as theirs) and chase all the others away from it. Sometimes they try to protect 2 feeders but end up just wearing themselves out trying to chase the others away.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

We have about 30 of them fighting over 6 feeders on the back porch and 4 feeders on the front porch. They can consume an amazing amount of nectar every day. We also use 4 parts water to one part sugar. Do not use food coloring or the red dye products, according to the experts, it's bad for the birds.

I usually have them running out my ears by this time of the year. They are running a good two weeks behind. I only have
two feeders out now. When they finally show up I will have twelve out for them. Last year this time I had over fifty. I wonder
if they are telling us something about the fall or winter.
    Tell'em I'll be there.

We have the normal amount, they should be leaving here about the 15th of September.
They eat about 3 quarts a day. We run multiple feeders.

Our hummingbirds were kinda scarce this year, usually we have close to 100 at any given time after they are done nesting but this year we've had maybe 30 at a times the most.. ours usually leave around Sept 20-22..

Our's usually start showing up the last week of July. I start putting feeders out around the fifteenth. I have tried leaving
feeders out all year. I will have about three local birds that fight each other all day but usually the last week of July they
start showing up in numbers. Not this year.
    Tell'em I'll be there.
