yea that is true I was planning a trip down there for the spring buddy of mine has moved down there so figure we would come down and try them
MO, is Henderson affected by river stages like Old River? After waiting all summer to fish Old River and it still not right, I'd like to find somewhere else to fish as a plan B. I went to Henderson 1 time this year and didn't have a bite. Someone said the water was still too high. I didn't even think about checking any river stages before going though.

Yes, Miss river & then Atch river do play a role.....Also Red river, then Bayou Courtableau(North), do also.....

I use the Pelba gage located by the public launch in Henderson as my guide for water levels in Henderson....it is almost 10 ft. now...was up to 18 feet....it may get down to 7 ft at which time the public launch is closed...then you have to launch on the south end at Basin Landing....

So, at what point in the guage is it a good time to hit Henderson? Like right now at 10 ' ?
Assuming they are not trying to control the grass in Henderson, the control structure will hold the level at the structure to 9' (by agreement with St. Martin Land Company). The current head between the Pelba gauge and the gauge at the pontoon bridge is currently 6" (which indicates a pretty good flow through Henderson from Courtableau). As long as this flow continues the level at the Pelba gauge will only drop to 9.5'. I prefer to fish Henderson when the head drops below 4", indicating a moderate flow. This will occur when they cut back the flow from Courtableau and the Pelba gauge will drop to 9.3'. I know this is probably as clear as mud.
