    Default Battery overflow.

Apparently when I added water to my 31 batteries I must have gotten one a little overfilled. I have had some liquid on the side of the batteries and one of the posts had corroded a connector. I see what could be a little in the tray and slight discoloration of the aluminum ( G3 pf 176 aluminum boat). Going to remove batteries and trays. What should I use to clean the areas where the batteries are to neutralize any acid.

Very good suggestions thus far. You can also coat them post and terminals with a thin coat of axle grease to prevent corrosion. I do it on equipment I don't have to check the batteries often on as much, my boat batteries I see at least once a week! Still a good prevention method to corrosion buildup.

In a pinch you can use coca cola to clean corrosion off battery posts.

As a preventative, next time you want to add water make sure batteries are fully charged. As you charge the electrolyte expands and will push excess out of battery. Charge, add water with a turkey Baxter, that way if you over fill you can suck some back out. Also if it's just one battery make sure it's not over charging. When a battery shorts it causes charger to keep charging and heats battery up pushing out acid.

I coat terminals with dielectric grease to prevent corrosion.

I had a similar issue but there also a crack in the battery box ;which leaked acid on the floor. The baking soda and copious amount of water cleaned it up.
