Really unusual. Won't ever see crappie in that predicament.
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.

Seen that very same thing, back when I was a teen. Fishing with my grandparents, we noticed a disturbance on the water & when it kept it up for several minutes ... we went to investigate. Found a couple of Bass in the same situation and scooped them up in our net, then dislodged them from each other and turned them loose. They swam off, only a little worse for the wear.

I imagined that they were both busting Shad on the surface & went after the same one, from opposite directions. but it seemed like a possibility, at the time. I always thought fish were "smart" enough to know how big something could be and still be swallowed, but had my doubts about that theory, many years later, when I hooked about a 10" KY Bass ... and had a slightly larger Smallmouth take it right off the hooks of the bait I was throwing (which, if I remember correctly, would have been a dual prop topwater bait).
