    Talking Guntersville Dam 6 Aug

Took my wife and two daughters down to the dam for a catching trip yesterday. LoL The stripe were thick and I just let them cast spoons and jigs until they were tired of it. My girls usually don't care for one of dad's fishing trips but if a catching trip is involved, they're in. It was good to be out on the water, it's been awhile with work and travel lately. Water temp was 83.5 and current not too bad. Needed the current to keep the stripe up on top and slashing at anything that came by. They were boiling up out of the water chasing all the shad, and that kept the girls interested. They weren't big, only a pound or less, but with the current, they pulled good and the girls loved it. Won't be long and the crappie will be picking up again. Good way to end the summer as they go back to college next weekend.

Lots of fun right there. They were busting shad on the main lake Saturday and my kids loved it too. There were largemouth and spotted bass below the stripe if the spoons made it that far down. Those white bass pull good on an ultra light and 4# line.

I'm curious as well. I need to go down there soon and stock up on skipjack for the freezer for catfish bait.

Bob sometimes just catching fish of any kind is better than only a few crappie. If you use light tackle them small stripe and white bass are very fun. Glad y All had a get time

No Skip Jack where I was. I'm sure if you had gone up closer to the dam along the wall you'd been able to load up on the skippies.
