    Prayer Request Mill Creek lake

I am thinking about heading over to Mill Creek lake and trying my luck with pullin cranks there. I was there in early spring and caught some real nice slabs and was wondering if anyone has some fresh reports? Water temp and color....etc. Thanks in advance.

They are pretty tight lopped about this lake so it must be good. I posted last month and didn't get a reply either. I went on a Monday and found out bait shop was closed if you wanted minnows. It is a nice looking lake but we struggled but might try again in fall. $16 to launch your boat but I think it has potential. We drove over from Indiana and our license is good until next April. If you do any good be sure and post.

I am also driving over from Indiana. Thanks for the reply. I went there in early spring and caught some very nice fish. I bought an annual launch permit and will not be using minnows. Gonna try to push cranks just above the thermocline and I will post results afterwards. It's 70 miles from my house so I'll be getting up early. The lake does look very nice for fishing. The lake drops off deep quickly from the banks in most of the lake. It's a two rod limit and only two crappie over 12 inches can be kept so I'll push two rods from the front. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!

Have fished it many times but not yet this year. Never had much luck trolling mainly do the best with minnows on deadfalls in deep water. As you leave the dock headed down lake watch for timber exposed on your right just before the bend to your right this timber is deep on its east side and usually always holds fish, the next to the last cove on your right at the south end of the lake would be your best bet for cranks also about 3/4 of the way in on your left you will see exposed timber again this is about 12 ft of water and usually holds fish, the last point on your right before running into the earthen dam is exposed deadfall again the end of that deadfall is deep water and usually holds fish. Call the Clarksville restaurant which is just outside the lake they usually have minnows (closed on Mondays) phone number is 217-889-2211. There are two coves with standing timber that hold fish as well but takes a lot of work to catch them. Use your trolling motor in the standing timber there is a lot of trees and stumps just below the surface in those areas. Those are the best spots we have found there are a few other deadfalls that we work but not as productive as the areas I've given you good luck. Make sure and read signs before fishing and have all required equipment in the boat DNR checks this lake frequently. Its a great lake beautiful ramp and launch nice country restaurant outside the 16 dollar launch fee sucks but that is how they provide the nice facility that they have.

Did not catch a single crappie! The bass were biting though, I caught about 12 bass and one was pretty big. I trolled all over this lake and seen a lot of fish on the graph, they just were not biting. I tried casting jigs into the lay downs but did not bring minnows. Maybe this fall I will catch them.
