    What hooks do you prefer?

They work fine, but the hooks with safety covers are a pain, also the hook are brittle and break. I use the red Eagle claw hooks.

I've tried Matsuo, Eagle Claw, and the $6/hundred red Chinese hooks. I ruin the expensive hooks equally to the cheap hooks on catfish. I keep a pint jar of red hooks with split rings on them and split-ring pliers to replace the hooks on the boat. I will occasionally break a hook on a hang-up but not very often. I do know the $6/hundred Chinese hooks are blood-letting sharp!!! You can find them on eBay. I'm not at the computer where I have that info.

Guys, keep in mind that I probably have 20 different brands of cranks in my boat at any time. The all have their time and place. We caught several of the fish we caught in Rickie's story on the main forum on boards and c55s along with a bunch of custom painted Bombers, Arkies, Bandits, you name it. If wLure had solid white c55s and 549s, I'd be buying those now also. For the price they are hard to beat. I just prefer my own colors and patterns that they don't carry.

I'm still not sold, but if you buy some then yes that old black nickel steel produced in Chiner is too hard and brittle, don't hold up well to needle nose pliers and such! I replace mine with the Eagle Claw red trebbles hooks after I break them. Chinese crank baits?? Ain't they all now a days??

HC549 is the one I have some of. I just put new #4 red hooks on when I take out of the package. Got a couple of dozen of those and c55 never a bad runner out the box. And they catch fish.

Thanks, fella. Already have a few in the basket. Did you notice them running similar in depth to the c55 or any other bait?

549 will run about 12 feet on 100 feet of line. c55 will run 17-18 on 100 feet. 549 has much tighter wobble.

They look better than some of the China Sport cranks I've seen on ebay.
They must of had a sale this weekend. I click on a group and the price pops up $0.99, withing a few seconds the price jumps higher.
