The big question I've got, is what happened to this music? Why don't they make rock like this anymore?

The 60s/70s/80s had such top end music...the stuff coming out today just doesn't stack up.

There are some wonderful acts like Tedeschi/Trucks Band and Robert Randolph and the Family Band that I'll listen to.

Most record producers are like politicians---they think they know what is best for us so they try to cram their crap down our throats. The crap they think we want is Rap/Hip Hop/ Top 40 Pop Country. No thanks. I still search Amazon for artists and albums I haven't heard in 40 years. Spotify keeps my wife and I on the same page.

I'm from the Motown era but I listened to classic rock a lot when I was hanging out with the heads I worked with. Foghat, CCR, Stones, Aero, and quite a few more. Temptations, four tops, spinners, smokey, ojays, whispers, and more than I can name here. Now I'm listening to AWB and there old members that formed the group called 360 the majority of the time.

All good folks....but it (rock & roll) all started back in my day in the 50's & 60's.....course, I do like some of the later years also...I finished High School in 1956....we liked The Platters, The Chordettes, The Coasters, Chuck Berry, Fats Domino, Elvis, The Boxtops, James Brown, Glady's Knight, Conway Twitty, Johnny Mathis, Bo Diddley, Carl Perkins, Beach Boys, The Byrds, Smoky Robinson & the Miracles, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Marvin Gaye, Earth, Wind & Fire just to name a few.....my era pushed us out of the 40's music of the big bands like Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, etc....

My dad brought me up the same way. Last year I got to see David Gilmour, Carlos Santana, Journey, and The Doobie Brothers!

I was a big Motown fan as well.

Billy Preston was one of my wife and mine favorite concerts. I do have in my possession a pic of a member here who had a 'fro that rivaled Billy's.

I still get out my "Best of Otis Redding" CD often and crank it up. His performance at Monterrey shortly before his death was one of the greatest live shows. I mentioned Robert Randolph because much of his music takes me back to Sly and the Family Stone.
