    Default 2017 Ipilot anchor lock

Some one posted on here (for sales I think) that the spotlock on the 2017's is greatly improved. Anybody on here have first hand experience with the old and the new?

Yep, much better. I has an extra gps puck that goes on the back of boat giving it 2 points of reference. I use it a good bit unloading too, let the boat off the trailer, deploy the troller and spot lock it, then when I come back from parking steer the boat to the dock and step in.

Version 2 is exactly what I thought I was going to get, when I bought the first version!

My old one will sometimes drift 10'-15' before it corrects and sometimes in a very dramatic fashion if it's windy. How bout the drift on the new ones. Could you jig fish with it.

I single Pole a lot, it's perfect for Jig fishing.
There may be 2' of drift, even with the variable wind here in OK.

The new 2017 Ultrex that I have has a heading sensor (not gps puck). I remember you asking me why I had it mounted on the bow at Enid, I did look into it. It has nothing to do with the spot lock, well other than the jog feature, they can be mounted anywhere on the boat as long as they are not enclosed and have a clear line of reference. It's basically a compass, here is a link to the heading sensor info on the new I pilots the old ones may be different. I mounted mine on the bow cause I had an extra 1/2" hole left from the old trolling motor base.

My spot lock feature works flawlessly!

It is the difference between 15' and 3'. Go to you tube and search for" Minn Kota's reinvented spotlock verses the competition" .They use 2 boats one with the new spotlock and the other with Motor Guide's version. They chuck out marker buoys and show the difference with an overhead view.It is pretty impressive.
The 5' / increment jog feature is also a plus...

No biggie, I meant to tell you that, but I forgot about it. I would forget my head if it wasn't attached, surprised I ain't lost that I pilot remote yet
