So my dad has a 24' bay boat, and replaced all his electronics last year. He was really wanting side scan, so he went and got it. Long story short, he kept all his old units.
I am in Starkville at the house visiting some old friends, and he tells me to come outside with him...
He hands me a LMS 525iC and a LMS 522C and everything to go with it. All I need is a chip and a couple of NMEA cords!
Can't wait to get home and install them!

You get tired of your dad, I'll take him.
Tell'em I'll be there.
Nice msu! Just don't forget once you get it rigged up to take ole dad out on a trip, and you need to get the father in law back on the water again soon too!
Yes. My birthday is the first weekend of August and I am headed to Grenada with dear old dad...

Go to the Lowrance website and see if they offer any software updates for those units. They're free to download with an SD card if they do.

Did that. No updates.
Got both installed. I have not networked them yet. The 522 has an internal antenna, so I am using it as a dedicated GPS and the 525 as a dedicated sonar.
I had to rewire the entire boat, as a mouse had taken residence in the console. Also had to kill 10 more red wasps. Glad I did this Saturday night. Finished up about 3 am.
So all electrical things work now, except for the lights in the top, and I discovered the wires are cut from the top going up and down repeatedly. I reduced from 4 connections to the battery down to 2 (motor and house connection). I ran 6 gauge cable while I was fishing the transducer to the back. 6 gauge runs into a new fuse block.
Took it out Sunday and both machines worked great. There was only one time the GPS lost position, but it caught up in less than 30 seconds, so I may get away with not mounting the external antenna.
Last thing is MAYBE getting another machine for the front with a trolling motor so I can spider rig this spring, but we will see. That would be a long run for batteries and network.
