Nice mess congrats on fighting to the end. Nothing like the noise of summertime fun to make one appreciate winter time silence.

I have been doing this long enough to know better than to leave fishy areas to go look for more fish but that is what I started off doing this morning. Made a run to a couple areas that I really like but haven't spent much time in lately and it wasn't productive. To make things worse apparently one of my trolling motor batteries is getting weak and by the time I retreated back to friendlier territory I didn't have a lot of pep left to recover from getting blasted by the jet tubers. Was able to salvage a nice mess of fish and saw 19 and 20 but wasn't meant to be today as they both escaped for another day. But considering how bleak things looked about 9, I will take it.

Awesome! Great catch! I didn't think it would be possible to catch a limit this time of year.....You are the crappie daddy! Did you catch them jigging or pulling crank baits?

I was jigging down in wood 16-20fow.
Did mark several nice schools suspended 10-12ft over wood that the only way I could get a bite was to shake the boat or gouge the motor and move the jig fast. Caught a couple to confirm they were crappie but wasn't particularly effective or efficient for me. Pretty sure MrDux would have liked those fish with his cranks.
A lot of misconceptions about fishing this time of year, they have to eat just like we do. The trick is finding them before the heat and the boat traffic take the fun away from being out there. I can last until noon most of the time if I am trying to finish a limit, much longer is pushing it. Ideally I shoot to be back on the trailer around 10.

My hats off to you, I have fished all my life, Sauger is my passion, I have crappie fished every year and this is the first year that it all came together for me, that being said I know from talking to other fishermen this was a very productive year. I know the fish have to eat all year long but I have yet to figure the Sauger out other than their spawning pattern . My wife keeps me busy during the hot weather on the pontoon boat so I haven't made the time to get serious on summer time fishing, I have put a lot of thought into crappie fishing at night, what is your thought on that?

I am the wrong guy to ask about night fishing, I have caught them at one of the campground marinas at night but never tried it from the boat. I think there are few here on the forum that have had some success with it on the twins and I know from reading the forums it is very popular on some of the other lakes around us so it should work fine. About like anything else, just got to get out and do it.
