Ricky Watt and I had another fine morning on the water. Hit the water at daylight and quit shortly after 10 AM. All our fish came on off shore structures, that being ledges, drop offs and delta cuts on the main river.
Our first stop, we caught 4 largemouth bass, 1 big white bass, 2 yellow bass and one limit of very nice sized crappie. Then we scouted quite a bit and finally stopped off at a couple more places and caught 4 keepers at each spot to finish with 23 keepers. Released everything over the one limit of crappie and one bass for Mrs Drumking.
Lures were Bobby Garland and Bass Assassin lures in various colors. Roly Poly Minnow Minder was good and Emerald Shad. The Bass Assassin colors that were good were S&P Phantom with chartreuse tail and Chicken on a Chain. All these fished on 3/32 oz jig heads powder painted various colors. The fish were deep today and the bite was good for about 1 hour, then a major slowdown. With the full moon coming up next Sunday, the bite should pick up the rest of the week. Water temp was 80.1 when we started and flow rate was nearly 7,000 CFS at dawn.
I can't stress how good my newly repaired Minn Kota Terrova trolling motor ran this morning. It is better than when I bought the boat and quieter than I thought was possible. Swafford Trolling Motors of Lenoir City did a wonderful job and I recommend him if you have any trolling motor issues. He is the best.
