I've never used an umbrella that wasn't in my way. I fish as long as I can stand it then go home. Power inverter and fan helps as much as an umbrella imo

Bout 4 years ago bought the sportbrella xl and also cut off the flaps.I do use the strangs n feel like I have to but only use 2.Would like a smaller size but on a hot, windless day get along better by using it.... Very much wind it gets stored...Every body is a bit different....Like Patrick says it is a inconvenience...

Saw a guy today come off Grenada today with a patio umbrella still up after he had loaded his boat. When I put in it was white capping. I didn't put mine up.

I put a length of 5/8" heavy tubing (.120 wall) inside the lower section of the rod. I turned 4" or so of the one end down a bit to fit the tapered end, and a little epoxy to hold in place. Took a ton of the sway out of it. I also have loops to tie it out too if need be.

Nice binford! That would help strengthen the base pole for sure. May have to go to a patio umbrella, I will just need to build some good holders out of pvc. One thing convenient about the sports brella is it fits snuggly in a 3/4" seat base or pedestal. Thanks for the ideas!!
