Everyone that catches there seems to have lock-jaw about where to fish
You can still catch some in the flats at the Illinois Bayou spider rigging, but your gonna work for them. I fished tipped jigs and straight minnows last week and had the best luck with straight minnows. Headed south straight across the bayou area to the bay ridge cove right down from the dam and pulled half my days catch right off the deeper creek channel in about 15-20 ft. Not stellar cover, but enough I was catching 2-3 per pile. I didn't slay them by any means, but I brought home 15 or 16 over a 1lb. Stay out of the channels if you are rigging as the small stripers can wipe out half your poles in a hurry and they are schooling big time right now.
We came back last week from camping at Piney Bay. I cleaned 150 crappie, all caught 12 fow on brush near channel with jig & nibble.

If I had never been there before and was just starting to look for crappie, side imaging would be my friend, side image the creek channels looking for brush and structure on the side and also around bridge supports where creek channels are.
