Pomme is a great lake. Fishing right now is strange. Can easily catch a couple hundred a day and have 5 keepers. The big ones are still there. We were catching them not very long ago.

Hello everyone, I used to frequent this site about 10 years ago (mostly just lurk & read) anyway I'm finally hoping to get back to my love of fishing. The old fish and ski is long gone and I'm going to try to use the family pontoon. I have a trolling motor for the bow & plan to take out the front bench seats and use folding chairs for more options over permanently mounted seats so two people can fish either side or front. I would also like to try to set up spider rig on the front, and troll crankbaits off the back. Does anyone else use a pontoon for a fishing boat, if possible I would like to see pictures for ideas.
Also how is the fishing at Pomme De Terre ? I used to go to Mark Twain Lake, but now have a fifth wheel set up at Hermitage 1/4 mile from the Dam & keep my boat in storage at Galmey. I usually put in at the Pittsburg State Park Marina because it's usually not that busy. I haven't tried fishing for crappie yet, I'm usually with my wife & kids so I might throw out some anchored jug lines for cats & then go swim.
By the way my name is Tim, I live in Washington, MO and finish drywall for a living.

One more question, is a Norman DD22 close enough to a bandit 300 to use for trolling ? I was looking though my tackle & for some reason or another I have quite a few of them new in the package still.
DD22 is a deep diver 22 foot crank bait.300 bandits run around 8-12 depending on line diameter and amount of line out.Yes in the heat of summer your DD22 could catch crappie but under a lot of conditions may not be optimum. You could stock your crank baits from Grizzly Jig or consider Pico's in Arkansas.I just got a Pico's order and cannot wait to get them wet.............They look great......Couldn't begin to tell you how many crank baits I own......It's an addiction...
A friend has been doing all his fishing from a pontoon last few years just fine.....Good luck
Rebel's,Rattle Traps,Wiggle Warts,Brad's,Rapalas,Berkley Flicker Shad's,and on and on,and on are all crappie catching cranks.Do not be afraid to try any and all....

This winter I caught a lot of crappie rigging at Pomme with double minnow rigs . Fishing brush piles with jigs can be good as well Good Luck
