    Default LATERAL LINE BLOOD

Fish are attracted to bloody lures so I was thinking about doing a bait with a creamy soft white belly, a bloody lateral line, and a light pink and silver glitter back so I decided to practice the lateral line on some older plastic first. I took an old teaspoon and beat it into the shape of a funnel. I poured the belly first into the mold with the teaspoon. Next I heated the blood and poured it on top of the belly in the mold. Then I closed the mold and injected the top half. I am thinking the bloody lateral line should be thinner when I make the actual lure. I was curious if any of you had thoughts, ideas or suggestions. Thanks.

With a clear bait suggest 'e-core' (rod down center then pour) shoot red down vacated rod core.
Should give you what you are looking for.

A brass rod whose thickness (Ace, True Value, etc) that allows flow around the gate and ends just before the tail.
IE: 1/32. I don't have that mold so can't give exact size.

Bob, I am still tinkering with the concept. It will be a three color lure. The belly one color, a contrasting color lateral line, and then a top color for the back of the lure. First you go to the thrift store and find a few teaspoons with wooden handles. These are usually about 15 cents or so. Grab a big hunk of iron and a hammer and pound on the spoon until they look like they will funnel hot plastic into a mold.

    1) Heat the belly color (Pearl or pearl white) until it is like dripping syrup. Use the spoon to carefully drip the belly color into the bottom of the mold. DO NOT OVERFILL. Save a little room for the lateral line.

    2) Heat the lateral line color (Blood or Black). Use a different spoon to drip the lateral line on top of the belly color in the mold.

    3) Close the mold and secure with screws or a vise

    4) Heat the back color (Flo Pink and very fine silver glitter or a mile lime green chartreuse and very fine silver glitter) Use your injector and inject the mold with the back or top color and hold pressure on the injector for 20 seconds so it will all weld. Top off the sprue hole with hot plastic and let the mold set for a few minutes while you clean your injectors and spoons.

I have done ok using a wooden toothpick dipped in red colorant. Pour half of the body, run a thin line down the body and then shoot the rest.

I tried the toothpick trick. We are making progress. This is what I came up with.
