    I cracked a seat last year due to the reel being too wide.

    Go to grinder it's to wide and to thick. Split to seats using the tighten up method.

    I used a dremel tool. It worked great.

    Used my dremel to reshape front prong of reel foot. Narrowed the prong by about 1/4 inch and thinned it by about 1/16 inch. Fits perfectly. Tightens down like they were made for each other. Took about 5 minutes per reel, and burned up 2 stones.
