Default D'Arbonne Catfish / and back home at 9:30

We started a little early to get the morning Bite and a Minor Period from 9 to 10 .... we had studyed the Topo Map area at the dam and was thinking of Launching at the Dam to fish deep water.. when we got to the lake,, with the South wind we knew it would be easier to Reload the Boat from Jakes at Hwy 33.. We had not fished the Channel for Two Months Towards Forks Ferry.. The First Boat to Launch had just got his Boat off the Trailer and I pulled the Boat to the Side and Tied it To the Dock . Bro Found he was a Viet-Nam Vet that had served In Country for 20 Months --- He was Crappie fishing --- When We Tied to a Channel Marker it was almost 6:00 -- I tossed out some Range Cubes and put the Poles at the front for action == I have been Watching a Can of Corn so long the Label was hard to Read, so, I opened it with my Knife and put half of them in another Can with a lid and set them on the Ice Chest for Bro.. after taking out two containers of Night Crawlers. Today I had a One Gallon Bag of White Rice and tossed a couple of hand fulls close to the Range Cubes.. I dropped Four hooks with Worm Tipped with 2 Kernels on each hook. Cats were biting Fast and Furious and they were not small. The Net was needed on the first 10 that came into the Boat. Bro was fishing Shallower water as he did not want to face the Sun. HOW, are You catching all those Big Fish??? I Keep missing mine and I think they are small... I sayed ---- did you put any Corn on the Hook????? NO ---- Well I got Corn on with my Crawlers, aaaaaaand I am Catching Fish. when he located what he did with the Corn He turned it upside Down - He could not watch his lines and scoup up the Loose Corn and get it back in the Can. He started Catching good fish in the Deeper water and all our Poles had a work-out.. The live-well was filling up fast. When Bro asked how many you think we have. I said close to 28 ---- Catching all these fish is work and we still have to clean them.... Johnny Said I need a Nap!!!!! When we got to the Landing, We pulled the boat out and Prepaired to get the Gear ready for the Road as two young men arrived to start fishing from the Bank... I said how many are you going to have at your Fish Fry .... He said 7 ---- are you going to put them in that bucket that you are sitting on???? Do you Clean Cats? I put in some water, 2 smaller and 5 big ones in the Bucket and said if you sit on it now you might get wet ... They will Have Dinner if they dont get a bite... I didnt get the last picture posted, those fish filled Two Plastic Tubs === Todays Fish are on the Desk we use for Cleaning and the bigger ones we kept are on the Cutting Board were all between 11 and 13 Inches after they were cleaned....Name: 100_3343.jpg

When we Cleaned the fish I found that the white Rice had them all pumped up and fighting for every Grain and the Yellow Corn helped find the Bait

When all the Rice Rained down on them they started Gourging on it because it was packed in the bottom of the Stomach, then Range Cube on top of that.. With some Bites the Corn was gone and almost no worm Missing, We returned home with half a can of Corn for the next trip

Bro says he Cant catch Crappie after the spawn so Cats become the Target.. With 7 years we refined better where to look and Catch....and the Channel Edge where the Rapid changing Contour is the Highway they like to use while searching for food... When using the Anchor we found that Muckey bottom do not hold Quality fish. The Best Depth is usually 20 to 24 feet with Hard or sandy bottom being the Best... Big trees in the Channel edge have Limbs at the tree base that hold Cats all the Time... I usually fish 4 poles and if they are biting ok I will put up one in case of a broken line ---- My Pole tips are usually about 14 inches apart that Concentrates the Smell of the worms.. Cats I have heard like The Corn, but untill the other day I had not used any...... Any time that only tiny cats are biting or Bait Stealing Get out of that spot,,, Someone has already fished it ---- The Tiny fish move into the hole untill big Fish push them out ---- Put out Range Cubes [ Cattle Feed ]at the site you fish . If the spot is fished more than an hour with no action ---- Move -- Stump Fields with water more than 16 feet can be excelent because those Cats are not fished.... Throw a marker on big stumps with structure. Throw the Range Cubes then anchor Front and back and the position changed tightening and loosening ate Anchor Lines so 2 People can fish the spot.... The White Rice we buy at Sams in 50 pound sacks and put in gallon bags ---- This last trip was the first time I threw Rice at them.... We Keep Our Depth Finder Heads in Gallon Bags full of Rich to keep any moisture away. We have two different sizes and Bro got the bags mixed up and had a hard time closing the Bag--- We Learned the Rice Trick by Accident. the Fish showed us they will eat all you have to share..
