Default Kayak Trip Report, Lake Wheeler

I fished for a few hours this morning and found a bunch of large gills stacked up in two to three feet of water on beds. I kept 15 and returned dozens more. Also found a few Crappie scattered on isolated stumps in three to four feet of water. Best bait was a 1/16 oz in-line spinner for the gills with a 1/32oz Marabou jig in Chartreuse when I found brush or an isolated stump.

Busy at work, I won't be back on the water again till July.

I hope we dry out some, I want to start getting on the river.

What was/is the water temp in these shallow areas you fish?
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

Water temp was in the mid 80's, visibility of about 18 to 24 inches. Some of the beds you could just make out as lighter colored areas in the water. FYI, it looked like the water level had dropped maybe 6 inches in the previous 24 hours.
