    Default Lake Wateree 6-10-17

Micorps was kind enough to invite my 6 year old son and I for a morning out on Lake Wateree. We met him at 6, and were on fish within 30 minutes. I got the skunk out of the boat with a good size catfish, and my son landed the first slab crappie shortly after that. The morning crappie bite was good on the south end of the lake until about 10 before the sun started to heat things up. Mid-morning we ran all the way up the lake to investigate and found a good catfish hole.

We were suspending minnows over brush piles 20-30 feet. The total for the day was 16 crappie, 2 cats, and a striper. After filleting and weighing we had 5.5 lbs of crappie, 1.5 lbs striper, and 3lbs of catfish.

HUGE thanks to micorps, he's a great guy who knows how to get on fish. For the sake of full disclosure I traded him 3lbs of ground grassfed beef from the upstate

Edward, i am glad i could help, i had a blast not having to run all rods and could focus more on boat control. Will let you know when im fishing alone and you can meet me. Hopefully you gained alot of knowledge for your next outing, i think i showed you enough spots you can anchor and fish without electronics in the meantime and catch some. Welcome to crappie.com. I must say the wife was very happy when she saw the beef you gave us. Thank you.

Yes, Colin and I gained a ton of knowledge and had a lot of fun, and my confidence level went up substantially. Those places you showed me will definitely keep enough fish in the freezer to keep MY wife happy so it sounds like we both scored points on that side of things.
