Need to replace my batteries I had one crap out. Been running two series 27 wet cells with 24 volt terrova on my xpress. When pulling cranks I was not happy with run time. 6 hours and done. They are up front and take some bouncing I was thinking AGMs series 31 this time. Thoughts? What brands? Thx.

Bought 3 Exide group 31 batteries from Academy, and they are the best I ever had after a few uses. Fished all day wIth trolling motor running all the time and still ended the day with 4 lights on the Terrova. And only 2 hours to charge up, which indicated a nearly full battery.

Be careful with the agm. They are not designed to ever be ran to dead, like we sometimes do to our batteries pulling cranks.
My opinion is you'd be better off with 29/31 group flooded cell, or even better, golf cart batteries for run time and reliability.

I run a 24 volt system. Started out with group 27 but eventually ended up with group 31. Finally reached satisfaction with Trojans with two different sets of batteries. When one bank gets weak I change to second bank. Both female ends are side by side so swapping is easy. While the second set isn't used regularly there are times on windy days the second bank keeps me on the water.

I wired mine to pull off of all four at the same time. This discharges all four at the same rate reducing the amount of time to recharge, and it's better to never run them all the way down. I have a breaker to turn each bank off if needed. I haven't needed to do that yet though.
