Imho, you are underpowered with that boat. Unless you are prepared to spend $2,000 + for a 36V TM and 3 new group 31 batteries, go get two new Trojan 12V golf car batteries. Mine cost me about $180 each and I haven't run them down yet. Keep in mind tho, I have an 18.5 ft tin boat. Actually, I'd trade up to 36V if I had room for the 3rd battery along with the $.

What kind of batteries could get me more time on the water for cranking? I never have issues spider rigging or 2 poling structure. Do I need to jump to a 36V trolling motor? If so, what kind of batteries should I run that on??

    Thanks gents,

I agree, much cheaper than a new tm, but space constraints can become an issue. Probably not on a big ole 21ft glass boat tho

I've used from Walmart batteries to interstates to napa. I used to think my batteries were bad, I was just taxing them with my fishing style in high winds. Check water levels and keep charged up and nearly any brand will last. I know few folks that buy Walmart brands and trade them in every year before they have a chance to get too many charge cycles on em

We have two group 31 exides in our 20 ft skeeter. We've been using them for two yrs now. We do quite a bit of crank bait pulling. On a full charge, we can run 1.5-1.8mph all day as long as the wind isn't terrible. We just replaced one of them last week because it didn't seem to hold charge very well anymore. I replaced it with another exide. They see a lot of use because we generally fish at least once or twice a week year round.
