Well me and Ginger dog hooked up the boat and trailer Friday night for another fishing trip to Percy Priest. Our friend, Eric, met us at my house at 4:30 AM this morning and we were off to the lake.
We launched about 5:30 AM and Eric parked my truck and trailer while I motored over to the dock and tied the boat up. Eric came back down to the boat and I looked around and asked where's Ginger dog? Well, in his defense, this was his first trip fishing with us, and he did apologize. So I went back up to the truck, collected Ginger dog, and we were off.
We put out 13 jugs for catfish and started trolling for crappie. We used an Academy Crul crank bait, blue and chartruese, a Norman middle N, purple and gold crank bait, a Bomber Fat Free shad with a chartruese belly, an Academy Crul D chartruese shad crank bait, and we had two jigs that we were long lining, one monkey milk and one chartruese.
The crappie were cooperative right away, and we caught them on both the jigs and the crank baits. The best crank bait was the Crul D chartruese, and the chartruese jig was the winner too. There were no hits on the monkey milk jig, so after the 3rd crappie on the chartruese jig I changed it over to chartruese.
We had several short fish that we released, along with some green carp that hit the crank baits. We ended up with 12 nice crappie, 11 catfish, and 3 white bass for the day.
