Default Shade in all the heat!! Limestone bay 1 Jun

I've seen a few folks do this so, I put together a rig using PVC pipe and a large umbrella. Thought I'd share if anyone else is trying to figure out how to beat the heat this summer and still stay on the water. Was very happy with how this turned out. Was on Limestone Bay on Wheeler yesterday afternoon for some fun. Caught a lot of those long toothy gar, one good sized cat and only one crappie. Water was 80 and I was just bumping around trying to figure out how to spider rig with some jigs. Crazy stuff when you have a 3' gar tightlined on 5' of line!

So here is the one thing not yet finished with this rig. I need to put a retaining pin through the mount and the umbrella pole so it can not be blown out by a gust of wind. Ranger Reb told me it happened to him once.

Nice job, if I keep my boat I will have to build one. How do you modify that for a Kayak....this has me thinking...smaller umbrella in the rod holder?

Bob D, Great minds think alike! I picked up a Versa-Brella at Cabela's earlier in the week for my kayak. It cost $20 but should be worth it spider rigging this summer.
