The fight was probably 3-4 minutes but one thing to consider is the boat NEVER stops when pulling cranks. Not only was Mike dealing with a fish that wanted to go back home but also the boat moving at 1.5++mph. Mike did a great job and the equipment held up great. Now I've got to find a recipe for 2" thick catfish fillets.

A few years back, a local fireman hooked a flathead that was 65-68 pounds, or something like that. He was fishing jigs out of a float tube. I don't remember how long he said it took, but it was long enough that he thought about just cutting the line.
    congratulations on the nice catch.

You guys definatly cost me money!! I've got new reels, rods, crank baits and electronics in the near future. It was awesome spending the afternoon with these two, both really know their stuff.

Catching the flathead was the icing on the cake!!!

I have to start pulling some this year. I keep saying I am going to do it and just end up spider rigging all summer long, lol. I guess I am just happy I finally got rigging somewhat figured out!

Try latching into one like that, fishing from kayak, with fly rod, 4 lbs leader...LOL Great boat ride, though they never seam to head back to launching area when they run! Great fun.
