Default Chickamauga Lake crappie report 4/27/2017

After my wife and I got some shopping done this AM after breakfast or brunch would be more accurate to say, I saw that the rain was over and the wind wasn't too bad, so I decided to go fish for a couple of hours or so. I stayed out 3 hours. Grin.

With TVA pulling 98,000 CFS from the dam, and the lake being stained and with a lot of debris, I thought that I would go hit the eddy water on the Harrison bluff and see if any crappie were stacked in there. I thought that they might be with all the water flow. And on my first cast, I caught a keeper on a Bobby Garland Black Night 2" Baby Shad. That crappie must have been the Lone Ranger because he didn't have any friends there with him. Grin.

But, the bass were happy to oblige me a little bit. I caught two keeper size spots on back to back casts and then had a big fish pull off just under the boat out of sight. I never did get to see the fish and I think it might have been a good bass, but my boat rule says that if I don't see the fish, then it had to be a Drum. LOL Then I caught a small Largemouth bass that really looked like a Coosa bass rather than a Largemouth. A good fighting Channel Catfish finished my bluff fishing and I decided to try some off shore places in spite of the wind that got up to around 8-10 mph.

I caught 2 keeper crappie and one short on a roadbed and checked under one dock but nothing would bite there. I scanned a few more docks without seeing any fish under the docks. I have one spot near the Tyner Lane ramp that I have put out brush on and it yielded my last keeper crappie. A pretty White Crappie that was 13.5" and was the only fish to bite. I fished that spot about 5 minutes before deciding to call it an afternoon.

I released all fish to get bigger. I caught a little flack from Mrs Drumking when she asked where the fish were and I told her that I let them all go. I got a little talking to. LOL She loves bass as do I. The water temp has cooled off with all this rain. It was around 68 degrees, down from the low 70's before the rain started.

I caught most fish on Bass Assassin 2" Dapper in the Bluegrass color, but I did catch the bass, the catfish, and the big white crappie on the BG Black night. I am not apologizing for the upside down pics. This web site should correct this problem.

Nice fish DK. Good detailed report. I wonder what's up with the pic problems ? I haven't had that issue occur so I'm curious what or how it could be happening ? If it's not the site maybe they could tell you what might be going on ?

You been up toward the dam lately at the reactors? We've been up there twice this spring and haven't found those stripers up there yet.

I wouldn't worry about the pics DK... I just flip my monitor over...
'Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:
The blind see and the lame walk; lepers are cleansed and deaf hear; dead are raised up and poor have the gospel preached to them.
And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me... Matthew 11:4-6

Getting to be closer to the return for me. but I am enjoying the reports and the upside down pics.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean there is no one out to get you
